Amy O'Meara was born in Medford, Oklahoma, in 1910, to Walter Baty and Georgie May Dunn Baty. Amy went to college and taught school before marrying Joseph Dalton O'Meara on May 1, 1938. They lived in California and Kansas before settling down on a small wheat and sheep farm north of Blackwell, Oklahoma. They had five children: Nancy, Karen, Dan, Pat and Jeannie. Amy and JD moved to town in Blackwell in 1977, and JD died in early 1979. Amy lived in Blackwell until she moved in with her daughter Nancy in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where she lived until she died in 1997. She played the organ and sang, and was an avid quilter until she became an even more avid crocheter.
