Mrs. Jordan died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
She was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Haines, Ore., the daughter of George H. and Lucille M. Castor Hardman. She married Edward J. Jordan June 24, 1944, in Richfield, Minn. He died June 6, 1986.
Mrs. Jordan was a pioneer in women's aviation and proudly served her country in World War II as a WASP (Women Air Service Pilots), one of only 1,000 elite American women pilots who provided aircraft-ferrying services to the U.S. military.
She was a past member of 99s, QC Ostomy Association, King's Daughters, Moline American Legion Post 246, and the Quad-Cities Diabetes Association. She was a volunteer with the Women in Military Service for America Foundation and WASP.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Patrick Cardona, Easton, Pa., Mary and Frank LaManna, Netcong, N.J., Barbara Jordan, Moline, Sheila and Bear Penland, Sugar City, Idaho, Peggy Jordan, Cudahy, Wis., Elizabeth and Robert Montgomery, Moline, and Melissa Jordan, Bethesda, Md.; sons, Michael Jordan, Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany, Edward Jordan, Moline, and Hans Juergen Koenig, Frankfurt-am- Main; 13 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
