Funeral services for Max Earl Green, 81, of Chandler will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, October 16, 2001 at Valley of the Sun Mausoleum Chapel, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd., Chandler, AZ. Reverend Bill Lowder will be officiating. Graveside services and military honors, provided by the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 7401, will follow at Valley of the Sun Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00PM, Monday, October 15, 2001 at Valley of the Sun Mortuary Chapel. Mr. Green, affectionately known as "Daddy Green" by his grandchildren, was a salesman for Phoenix Electric for 26 years. He was born November 29, 1919 in Kendall, Michigan. He moved to Arizona 44 years ago from Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was a volunteer at the Maricopa Co. Fair and at Chandler Compadre Stadium. He also volunteered at Chandler Vaqueros Saddle Club. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, stationed in the South Pacific on the U.S.S. Mona Island. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Velma I. Green of Chandler; Daughters, Barbara Hilland of Gilbert, Denise Kumpe of Mesa and Debbie Holly of Mesa; Son, Jerry Green; Sisters, Wilma Wait of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Betty Leversee of Kendall, Michigan, Helen Johnson of Placerville, CA; Brothers, Robert Green of Allegan, Michigan and Donald Green of Gobles, Michigan. Six grandchildren, John, Richard, Andrew, Amy, Lauren and Madeline as well as four great-grandchildren, Weston, Easton, Ian and Sophie also survive him. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014-5699. Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery is in charge of the arrangements.
