Bina was the daughter of Joel and Polly Huxley Hull, the former a native of Massachusetts and the latter of Ohio. She was the eldest of seven children including two sets of twins. Her father died in Liberty Township in April, 1891. In their family were the following children: Bina; William; Electa, wife of George Jackson, of Lorain County, Ohio; Sarah, wife of Arthur Harrison, of Bowling Green; Sylvester, twin brother of Sarah, of Liberty Township; and Alonzo and Lorenzo, twins, now living in Milton Center. Bina and Jerry had 10 children with 8 surviving in 1900: Adela, Blanche, George, Myrta, Maggie, Maud, Nellie, and Roy.
