Christopher immigrated to the United States from Germany and settled in Tioga County, Pennsylvania about 1847. He applied for citizenship in 1853 which was granted in 1854. He moved to St. Croix county, Wisconsin about 1854. He was a cabinet maker or carpenter in Germany.
He served in the Union Army, American Civil War in Company D, 30th Wisconsin Infantry. He was enlisted into military service 20 Aug 1862 and was mustered into service on 21 Oct 1862. Private Adam was mustered out with his company on 20 Sep 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky. Private Adam was born in Germany. The records show that when Private Adam was enlisted he was 41 years of age, married and had blue eyes, light hair, light complexion and was 5 feet 7 inches and was a farmer.
