Forrest Freeman Anderson

Funeral for Forrest Freeman Anderson, 79, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Michael L. King, Ralph Stout and Alan Watkins officiating.

A graveside service will be at Gallatin City Cemetery in Gallatin, Tenn., at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Anderson died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at Baptist Princeton Medical Center in Birmingham. He was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Gallatin to Herman Howard Anderson and Blanche Freeman Anderson. He as a World War II veteran and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a 1949 graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in civil engineering. He moved to Decatur in 1953 and went to work for Decatur Iron and Steel Co. as chief engineer of architectural metals. He was president of North Alabama Engineering Co., president of Scott Industries Inc. and general partner in Riverview Development Co. He was a member of Grant Street Church of Christ and the Decatur Kiwanis Club where he was treasurer for 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Harris Anderson; two sons. Forrest Freeman Anderson Jr. and Howard Harris Anderson, both of Decatur; and one brother, Herman Howard Anderson Jr. of New York City.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas C. Bingham, A.J. Coleman, Cecil L. Endsley, John C. Fisher, James R. Fite Sr., Dr. Robert M. Miller, Richard B. Smith and Chad F. Smith.

Pallbearers for the graveside service will be Walter T. Durham, Sam Hollins, Huelin Hollins, Fred A. Kelly, Bill Logue, Ray Rector, Tom Richey and G. Earl Swan.
