Glasgow (KY) Times 11 Mar 1938: "Mr. Samuel C. Doyle, 72, retired farmer and extensive property owner, died Thursday, March 4, at his home in Cave City. Funeral services were held Saturday 2:30pm at the Baptist church in Cave City with the Reverend Andrew McCauley, in charge. Internment was in the Cave City cemetery. Mr. Doyle was born and reared near Cave City and had spent all his life in that community accumulating much property. He was a member of the Barkwood Baptist church near Barren-Hart county line.

Surviving are his wife Sadie Doyle, a sister, Mrs. Mayfield Coats, Cave City, R. 3; seven sons, Messrs. Harry, George, Dan and Jim Doyle, all of Detroit, Mich.; John Doyle, Kokomo, Ind.; Paul and Joe Doyle, Cave City; four daughters, Misses Christine and Mary Doyle, and Mrs. Lydia Poynter, Cave City; Mrs. John Fuqua, Washington, D.C."
