Death of Dr, Jonathan Inglish

Dr. Jonathan Inglish died at the old homestead near the Moniteau early Monday morning, aged 83 years and some months. The funeral was preached at Shiloh church Tuesday afternoon by Rev. I V. Johson and the remains were laid away at Sweetwater cemetery, a large number of friends and neighbors were present including Masons from the California and Jamestown lodges, who had charge of the services.

Jonathan Inglish was the oldest of a family of seven or eight sons and probably one or two daughters, children of James Inglish and grandchildren of John Inglish, the founder of the Inglish family on the Moniteau. He was born in the neighborhood where he died, and where he spent his entire life. His wife, who preceded him some years ago, was Miss Akers, a sister of J. M. Akers and the only child survives him, is A, V. Inglish. Boyd and Dr. J.B. Inglish who live in the old neighborhood are brothers, and possibly one or two brothers living away from here in the southwest are also living.

Dr. Inglish always had the respect and esteem of the entire count. For many years he was a member of the Christian church. He practiced medicine and had an extensive practice for a number of years, retiring some years ago and enjoying life on farm. The family was from Tennessee to Missouri. Jonathan Inglish was a plain man, but a possessor of the qualities that make men great, strict integrity of character with a desire to do right in all the relations of life.
