Ben L Anderson, Webster, died Apr 4, 2011, in his home near Webster.
He was born Jul 10, 1928, to Alfred and Mattie (Lee) Anderson at Clarkfield, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Clarkfield. The family moved to a farm near Veblen, where he attended school.
Nov 26, 1950, he married Bonnie Arneson in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Havana, ND. In Feb of 1951, he entered the U.S. Army and trained at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict where he was assigned as a pharmacist assistant. After his honorable discharge in 1953, the couple moved to Webster. He worked for several road construction companies and eventually became owner/operator of his own construction company. He retired in 1996. After his retirement, he worked for Webster Scale Service in many capacities, formally retiring in 2008.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Webster, Herbert McKennett Post 40 American Legion, Webster VFW Post 3539, the American Quarter Horse Association and the local Western Saddle Club. He enjoyed horses, hunting, fishing, bowling, watching baseball and boxing. He raised quarter horses and cattle for many years.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Gary and Alan.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Webster; one son, Roger (Brenda) Anderson of Webster; three daughters, Glenda (Ray) Ascheman and Joyce (Lew) Nokleby, both of Benson and Marlene Grant of Milbank; four sisters, Patricia Guiney of Lodi, CA, Floye Belle Sedio of Austin, TX, Marilyn Revier of Sioux Falls and Rena Hansen of Aberdeen; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Military rites will be conducted by Herbert McKennett Post 40 American Legion.
