Payton was a trucker and Farmer for many years, living at various times in Clay, Ray and Platte Counties in Missouri. Most of his life, however, was spent in his native county of Clay. He was born October 8, 1871, r miles, Southwest of Kearney on old Fishing Creek.
Funeral services were held last Monday afternoon at the Hope Funeral Chapel in Excelsior Springs, the Rev. Pat N. Easterling officiating. Burial was in the cemetery one mile west of Excelsior Springs.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ona Wade; four sons, Raymand Wade and Norman Wade, Excelsior Springs, Keith Wade, Kansas City, Kansas, and Grover D. Wade, Valley Falls, Kansas; five daughters, Miss Roxie Wade, Mrs. Rena Tucker, Mrs. Jerry Tackett, Mrs. Rena Tucker, Mrs. Opal O'Dell, all of Excelsior Springs and Mrs. Hiram Hill, Kansas City, Kansas: Two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Bohrer, Oakley, Kansas and Mrs. Maggie Suell, Nevada, Missouri∼Husband of Catherine Malott.Father of 2 children/ Grover&Bessie.
