He was born Sept 11. 1908. in Tamalco, El., the son of Edward and Ella Apple Carter. He married Florence Vogt Feb. 24, 1934, in Erie. She died Jan. 4, 1981. He married Mabel Lundquist Sept. 11, 1983, in Hillsdale. He died Dec. 23, 1983. He was a retired farmer in Hillsdale. He was a former member of Coe Zuma Insurance Co. board; Boy Scout Executive Committee of the Black Hawk Council; Rock Island County Community Chest; trustee of Canoe Creek Township Cemeteries; Rock Island County Fair Board; Board of Upper Rock Island County Recreation Association; and a member of Rock Island County Farm Bureau. Survivors include a son, Orwin Carter, Stillwater, Minn.; grandsons, Jeffery Carter, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Stephen Carter, Robinsdale, Minn.; and brothers, L.R. Carter, Washington, Iowa, and Charles Carter, Sterling.
