William Carl Lee Morris Sr.

William Carl Lee Morris Sr. of Burnet died Saturday, Sept. 20. He was born
Oct. 1, 1918, in Menard County to Solly and Gladys (Montgomery) Morris. Carl
was retired from the restaurant and motel business and operated the LaVista
Motel and Restaurant in Burnet and the Western Star Motel and Restaurant in
Junction. They also had a small ranch in Burnet County, which was farmed and
ranched with hogs, cattle, and goats. It was a special place for many of the
family members and is referred to as "the farm" by all. He enjoyed
gardening, hunting, fishing, and loved reading and barbecue. He was preceded
in death by his wife, Joyce Edell Turner Morris on March 21, 1981, and by
six brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his children, Edell Dodd of
Burnet, June Kuepers of San Angelo, William Carl Lee Morris Jr. and wife
Bonnie of Bertram, Patsy Collins of Burnet, Carla Reeves of Burnet and Cindy
McPherson of Burnet. He is survived by 18 grandchildren and 23
great-grandchildren. A graveside service and burial was held Wednesday,
Sept. 24 at the Post Mountain Cemetery in Burnet. Funeral arrangements under
the direction of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home of Burnet.
