Services Held For Charles F. Willson
Charles Freeman (Chick) Willson, 68, died at the Big Timber Rest Home last Thursday morning. The retired Sweet Grass county rancher had entered the Community hospital from a heart ailment, in April of last year, but had improved enough to be transferred to the Rest Home several months ago.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Lowry Chapel, with Rev. W. F. Clingman, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren church, officiating. Music was by Mrs. A. Ronald McDonnell and Mrs. Chas. Nicolson who sang "No Night There" and "Abide With Me." accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Mervin Sell.
Pallbearers were Lewis Larson, Bert Boyd, Roy Moore, Ed Mack, Willie Hulin, and M.C. McGreevey. Military graveside rites were conducted by American Legion post 19 at Mountain View, with Orvin Fjare acting as chaplain; Herb McCauley commander, and Al Deegan, Pete Burmeister, K. C. Jones, and Donald Shay composing the firing squad; C. V. O'Leary, F. B. Peterson, A. R. McDonald and Chas. Nicholson color guard, and Francis Ferris, burglar.
Mr. Willson was born October 22, 1893, in Moweaqua, Ill., the son of Wilbur and Elizabeth Willson. He and his brother, Wilbur, came to Montana in 1913 and they were employed in the Ryegate area for many years. Chick served through World War I and was a member of the American Legion. For the past 15 years, he had ranched in the Sour Dough country. He was married to Hattie Lindner in 1922.
Survivors include one son, Chaarles F. Willson, Jr. of Big Timber; a daughter, Mrs. Ted (Betty) Jenkins of Noxon; three sisters, Mrs. Nell Breeden and Mrs. G. W. (Mary Ellen) Catherwood of Decatur, Ill., and Mrs. R. H. (Louise) Flaugher of St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers, Wilbur Willson of Pana, Ill. and Andy Willson of Decatur, Ill; also six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
