DEATH OF MRS. WILLIAM
RICKEY, PIONEER RESIDENT
Mrs. William Rickey, aged 75 years,
a resident of Smethport and vicinity
for over forty years, died at her
home at 140 Forest Avenue, Friday,
April 19, at 8:30 am.
The deceased was the widow of the
late William Rickey, whose death
occurred seven years ago.
Mrs. Rickey was born July 26, 1854,
at Mansfield, Pa. She was married
to Mr. Rickey at Tioga, Pa., 57 years
ago.
She was a devout Christian and a
fond and loving mother. The community
will feel her loss greatly as she
was loved and respected by a host of
friends. Mrs. Rickey was known as
a lady of the highest integrity and
honesty.
Mrs. Rickey is survived by five
children, Mrs. Bertha Baker, Mrs.
Helen Button and Wm. Rickey, Jr.. of
Olean; George Rickey at home and
Mrs. Frances Stanton of Smethport.
She also leaves sixteen grandchildren
and eleven great grandchildren.
The funeral was held at her home
at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev.
Chase of the United Brethern church
officiating. Interment was made in
Rose Hill cemetery.
Pall bearers were Emmet Green,
Milo Andrews, Asa Sherer, Patrick
Foley, Seth Geary and Everett Walker.
