Anne Lower Jardine Rhinehart passed away at her home in Highland, Utah on April 2, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was eighty-five years old.
Anne was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on February 12, 1926 to Samuel Steven and Mary Oka Litz Lower. She married Clyde Valair Jardine on June 18, 1943 in the Logan Utah Temple. They had two sons, Steven John and Stanley Clyde.
Anne and Clyde made their home in Clarkston, Utah, where they worked hard building up an oil and gas distributorship that covered the Cache Valley Area.
Clyde died December 7, 1950 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was twenty-five years old. Anne continued to work and run the oil business and support her two young sons.
Anne later met Harold Eugene Rhinehart. They were married on April 2, 1954. They lived in Clarkston, where Harold served as mayor. During this time, Anne served as President of the Cache Valley Mayors' Wives Auxiliary.
After Clarkston, Anne and Harold moved to Price, Utah, where Harold worked for American Oil Company. They were transferred to Salt Lake City for eight years and then assigned to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where they lived for one year.
Anne and Harold made the move back to Utah where they bought a small oil business. Anne was very influential in building and growing this business. Anne had an analytical mind and strong business sense. She followed trends and used what she learned to help build a successful oil business, Rhinehart Oil Company and Hart's Convenience Stores.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served faithfully in all her callings. She especially loved working with the young people of the church.
She was an incredible teacher; she knew how to teach the gospel and she dearly loved those she taught. Anne loved beauty; she created beauty in her home and in her garden. She made a beautiful home and garden that were enjoyed and appreciated by all that came to visit.
Her Christmas trees and holiday village were the highlight of the Christmas season for her family. Anne loved to paint and enjoyed studying the lives and art of the great Masters. Her paintings reflect her eye for beauty and her love of nature.
She was very well read; her library was full of classics as well as current works. She was active and interested in politics and the world around her; she read several newspapers a day throughout her life. Anne loved sports and was an avid Jazz and BYU fan.
Anne was very elegant and dignified. She was truly grateful for the many blessings in her life. She loved her family and she loved her Savior and lived her life as a testament to both.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Clyde Valair Jardine and Harold Eugene Rhinehart; her son, Steven John Jardine; great-grandson, Steven James Yates; siblings Max Wendell Lower, Bartley Litz Lower and Mary Oka Lower (Boyd) Maughan. Anne is survived by her son, Stanley Clyde (Lana) Jardine, daughter in-law Lana Owen Jardine, granddaughters Jill Anne (Craig) Smith, Jennifer Jane (Ty) Savage, Stefanie (Shane) Yates and Rachelle Elizabeth Jardine; grandsons Jared Steven (Claire) Jardine, John Harold (Alecia) Jardine, and David Stanley (Aimee) Jardine as well as eight great granddaughters and nine great grandsons; siblings Helen Lower (John) Simmons of Logan and Samuel Steven (Dianne) Lower, Jr. of Plain City.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Highland Twenty-Fourth Ward Chapel, 5212 West Country Club Drive, Highland, Utah. Family and friends may call on Thursday evening between 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the chapel and beginning at 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on the morning of the services.
Interment will be in the Clarkston Town Cemetery.
