John 'Jack' William Smith, 81, of Nortonville, KS passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011 at his home.
Jack was born July 14, 1929 in Atchison, KS the son of Anthony William and Phoebe (Trout) Smith.
He had worked as a supervisor at the former Rockwell for almost 40 years. Jack enjoyed fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed hunting coyotes with his hound dogs.
Jack married Rose Ann Ebbs in 1948 in Atchison at the First Christian Church. She survives of the home in Nortonville. Additional survivors include two sons, Gary (Betty) Smith, Valley Falls, KS; Michael Smith, Topeka, KS; daughters, Sheryl Smith, Atchison; Vicki (Dean) Graner, Shreveport, LA; brother, Don Smith, Valley Falls, KS; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Ann Prohaska.
No services are planned at this time and Mr. Smith has been cremated under the direction of the O'Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Atchison or Jefferson County Humane Society and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.
