He was the founder of the Johnson Ranch in Northern Scurry County. He was the father of Gladys Johnson Sims Hamer who along with her brother Sidney shot and killed her ex husband in downtown Snyder, Texas and in essence started the Johnson-Sims Feud. Sources from the Johnsson-Sims Feud by Bill O'Neal. Glayds later married Frank Hamer, the infamous lawman who headed the posse that killed Bonnie and Clyde.
