During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps, and during the Korean Conflict served in the US Air Force. Mr. Gabler was a budget analyst with the US Government.
He was a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion; AMVETS Post 224; Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 Veterans of Foreign Wars; Lutheran Brotherhood Service Club, Branch 8090, for which he was treasurer; Greene Township Lions Club; BPO Elks 600; and the American Association of Retired Persons, Chapter 2287.
He was a volunteer at Chambersburg Hospital, Lutheran Brotherhood Branch 8090 Brown Bag Program, Tax Aide for the Elderly, and for the Red Cross Blood drives. He travelled with the Chambersburg GO Club.
