Mr. Charles Gilbert Darden, Sr.

Mr. Charles Gilbert Darden, Sr., 66, of Dresden, died Thursday, June 7, 2001 at Methodist Healthcare Volunteer Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Darden were held Saturday, June 9, 2001, at 1:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in Unity Cemetery located in Dresden. Elder Houston Patrick officiated the services. Mr. Darden was Retired from General Motors, as well as a member of Siloam General Baptist Church. He was born July 13, 1934 in Martin to the late Gilbert Darden and Dulcie Roberts. Mr. Darden was also preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Hammonds Darden; a brother, Gary Darden; and a sister, Robbie Frost. Mr. Darden is survived by three sons, Warren Darden of Dresden, Charles Darden Jr. of Dresden, and Brian Darden of Dresden; three sisters, Ruth Scott of Dresden, Barbara Rutledge of Lansing, Michigan, and Romona Holbrook of Lansing, Michigan; and eight grandchildren.
