He always lived in Shelburne, Mass. Brought up on a farm, he received a common education. His farm and saw mill together with the country tavern he ran occupied his time. He was an upright, honest man in all his business life, and was chosen deacon of the church in Shelburne in 1821, which office he held until his death. He passed away in December 25, 1846
