Big Timber Pioneer, February 1, 1968
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30, from the Lowry Chapel for Mrs. Beth Covert Adams, who passed away Sunday evening at the Pioneer Home in Big Timber following a long illness.
She was born Alice Elizabeth Covert in Ludden, N. D., March 19, 1890, the daughter of John and Anna McCarty Covert. She attended high school in Oakes, N. D., and completed her education at the University of North Dakota.
After teaching in her home state for several years, she came to Billings in 1913 and taught for two years prior to her marriage to Edgar M. Adams in 1915.
She and her husband ranched in the Absarokee and Brandenburg areas during the years which their three children were born then moved to Spokane, Wash., where Mr. Adams entered the investment banking field.
In 1923 they moved to Portland, Ore., where they lived until 1949. At that time Mr. Adams retired from the investment banking business and they returned to Montana and ranched 20 miles east of Melville until his death in September 1965.
Mrs. Adams was active here in the Farm Bureau and Cowbelles organizations and was a member of Westminster of Presbyterian church in Portland, Ore., and AJ chapter of PEO in Oregon.
Survivors include a brother, Judson H Covert of Billings; sister, Emily C. Heaton of Lake Oswego, Ore; two sons, John A. Adams of Big Timber and Ed Adams, Jr. of Shawmut; a daughter, Mrs. V. W. Pierson of Portland and eleven grandchildren. Her nieces are Mrs. G. M. McCormick of Lake Oswego, Mrs.William P. Roscoe, Jr. of Billings, and nephew John Covert of Missoula.
