Andrew Jackson Snodgrass

By a General Affidavit, Robt. B. Snodgrass certified on May 3, 1901 that he personally observed the funeral/burial, as a matter of record, of the mother of Andrew J. Snodgrass, namely;

Nancy Knox Mcgee.

Nancy Knox McGee is believed to be the daughter of James E. McGee, TN. , 1806, or William and Sarah Mcgehee. She was born October 31, 1832 in TN. She married James W. Snodgrass, January 1, 1847, in Mulberry Township, Franklin Co., AR., that was previously Crawford Co., at some point. She was the mother of John A., Mary A., Wlliam W., 1850, Andrew Jackson, 1852, Martha Roe and Mary Lerena, born after 1852 and both died Oct., 1857. Nancy and all her children except William W. and Andrew, died from a cholera epidemic in 1857-59. She died Feb., 6, 1859. May Nancy K and her children rest in the arms of God forever.

His father James, remarried Feb. 15, 1860 in Franklin Co, to Nancy Jane Hughes, who had one child May 7, 1866 that died ten days later. Then Nancy Jane died 9 days later on May 25th. She was buried in Franklin Co., AR.

James went on to marry a third time to Nancy Harlan Welch in Webster Co., MO., in May of 1867. In MO, and they settled in Sand Springs, Washington Township, a settlement a few miles from Marshfield, Webster Co., MO. Nancy (#3) 's mother Elizabeth Welch was living with them according to the 1870 census.

Andrew Jackson Snodgrass, at age 7, survived the cholera epidemic along with his one year old baby brother, William, and two Mcgehee children, John and Josephine, that were living with them in the 1860 census. Andrew was 17 in the 1870 census with James and Nancy (#3), who went on to have nine children, those being his half siblings.
Andrew married Nancy Jane Johnston on April 13,1876, and had nine children;
Margaret, Elias, Emery, George, Bert, Frankie ( lived 19 mos.), Ida, Vena, and Oscar. Ggfather, rest in peace.
