Margaret Sharp Craswell was the daughter of George Sharp and Jane Elizabeth Linkletter. She spent her youth on Prince Edward Island, moving to Willmar, MN to care for a sister. There she met a fellow PEI native, Herbert Craswell. They married in Willmar on 17 Mar 1881.

Margaret and her husband had six children, Nellie, James, Lulu, Herbert, Charles Harmon, and Lois. They lived for many years in Sioux City IA with brief times in MN and MT due to Herbert's employment with the railroad.

After Herbert's retirement, they moved to Kent WA. Margaret enjoyed designing intricately patterned hooked rugs. She was a sweet and gentle person much loved by her children and grandchildren.
