Pembroke - Mrs. Janet D. Humphries, 68, died Monday at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta after a long illness. The Candler County native was a member of First Baptist Church of Pembroke. She was a member of the Lingerfelt Circle and the Pembroke Garden Club.

Surviving are her husband, W. L. Humphries of Pembroke; a daughter, Mrs. Miriam Crews of Fayetteville; a son, William Strickland of Boston; two sisters, Mrs. Geneva Dean of Winnsboro, S.C. and Mrs. Tiny Boyette of Metter; two brothers, Wiley Durden of Metter and Otis Durden of Winnsboro; two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Pembroke, burial in Northside Cemetery.
