Jennie was the daughter of Abrahm Wesley McMillen and Clarrisa V. Eddy. She married 1st Nathan Maxson Purviance, April 13, 1889; 2nd W. A. Walker, February 28, 1905; and 3rd Joseph L. McLaughlin, September 09, 1909.

Born in Ohio she moved with her parents to Kansas City, where she married her first husband Nathan Maxson Purviance on April 13, 1889. Shortly after the birth of their son Lincoln, they then moved to Perry County, Arkansas to homestead. The boy died tragically at the age of three, and her husband died five years later.

She then married W. A. Walker, February 28, 1905, but that marriage was short lived, and on September 09, 1909, she married Joseph L. McLaughlin. They remained together until his death several years later.

Jennie taught in the Perry public schools where she also had special classes in music. She was the Post Mistress, and a practicing Christian Scientist. One morning, after returning from town, she died from a heart attack near the gate of her home. She was 79 years old.
