He was a retired welder and recycler, a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Tabernacle of Faith Church. Other than his father, also preceding him in death were two brothers, Chester Oakes and John Oakes; and a granddaughter, Brittney Beaucage. Charles enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ann Grissom Oakes of Monticello; two sons, Eugene Oakes of Monticello and Steve Oakes and wife, Ana of Monticello; two daughters, Margie Beaucage and husband, Paul of Star City and Toni Garrison and husband, Ray of Monticello; his mother, Faye Oakes of Monticello; three sisters, Betty Morton of Morehead, MN, Nora Lovett and husband, Jerry of Monticello and LaVeda Allen and husband, Jack of Monticello; thirteen special grandchildren, Brian, Wendy, Josh, Stacy, Brittney, Heather, Randie, Matt, Angel, Matthew, Amanda, John and Hannah; one great grandson, Benjamin; a special daughter of the heart, Mandy Etue and her children Aaron and Cassidy.
Pallbearers were Grandsons Brian Tucker,Josh Oakes,Matt Oakes,Quinton Morgan,Grandson of the Heart Aaron Etue,Son-in-Laws Paul Beaucage and Ray Garrison,Nephew Len Brockwell,and Friend, Tim Etue. Honorary Pallbearers were his Grandaughters Wendy Tucker,Stacy Oakes,Heather Garrison, Randie Garrison, Angel Beaucage and Grandaughter of the heart Cassidy Etue.
Services were given by the Honorable Pastor Terry Norris who was also Charles' friend.
