Edna Juliet Baxter, 85, of Kearney died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Edna was born Dec. 26, 1925, in Springbrook, N.D., to Halvor and Hilda (Tressing) Thompson.

On May 4, 1946, she married Clifford Hanson. On Sept. 21, 1961, she married Charles Baxter in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sons, Kevin Baxter and his wife, Rhonda, of Abilene, Kan., Alan Baxter of Laporte, Colo., Bruce Hanson and his wife, Cherilynn, of Tacoma, Wash., Perry Hanson and Daryl Hanson and his wife, Sharon, all of Minnesota, and Neil Hanson and his wife, Debbie, of Michigan; daughter, Cindy Baxter of Tacoma; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Edna and Charles lived in Tacoma, Wash., for 24 years where Edna was a homemaker most of that time and later worked in food service. In 1985, they moved to Nebraska where she continued her work in food service then retired and devoted her time to her grandchildren.

Edna was a member of the Salvation Army for many years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with her family.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
