Doris "Rosalie" Lollar, of Bolivar, MO passed away in the early hours of Friday, July 21, 2023 at the age of 87. Rosalie was born in Ruble, MO on January 13, 1936 to Willie and Cora Skaggs. She had three brothers, Richard Skaggs, Jesse Skaggs (Lois) and Herman Skaggs (Barbara Ann) and one sister, Deloris Morton (Alford), who all preceded her in death.

Rosalie lost her mother Cora when she was only six but her kind, loving father carried on, raising his young children and they remained a very close family. Young Rosalie loved school and attended a one room country school through the 8th grade. She never attended high school which was something she regretted. At 70 years old she wanted to fix that so she attended GED classes. She often talked about her classes with her grandkids, several of whom were in high school at the time. They have fond memories of learning Algebra together. Getting her GED and being top of her class was one of her proudest moments.

As a young adult living in St. Louis, MO she met her future husband. Solomon shared his faith and love for Christ with Rosalie. She put her faith in Christ as well, accepted him as her personal Savior, serving and loving the Lord every day, even through the most difficult days she faced.

On November 17, 1956 in Piedmont, MO Rosalie married Solomon Edward Lollar, who preceded her in death. Together they raised 3 children, sons Eddie Lollar (wife Beth) of Bolivar, Brian Lollar of Bolivar and daughter Cheryl Friesz of Independence, MO. She had 9 grandchildren, Jacob Thirion (Karen), Katie Martin (Casey), Julie Evans (Aaron), Jenifer Gully (Joey), Justin and Johnathan Lollar, Sarah Friesz, Jonathon Friesz (Cassie), and Rebekah Friesz (Matt Rothermund). Rosalie was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews across the country.

As a newly married young woman, she became part of a large family and her new mother in law, Letha Lollar truly became a second mom to Rosalie. Over the years Rosalie always maintained a loving, happy home and worked hard. For many years she served as a baker for Southwest Baptist University Food Service. It was a job she loved, building close relationships with many students while baking the best homemade rolls and many desserts that everyone loved.

Rosalie was a long-time member of First Baptist Church where she enjoyed fellowship and had many close friends. As a member of the Mary Martha Class she worked behind the scenes cooking funeral dinners and volunteering at a local clothing center.

After winning a battle with cancer she joined the Senior Center where she worked out regularly with friends. At the age of 76 Rosalie impressed her grandchildren with her ability to do push ups. She remained active and on the move, watching her family grow. After a dementia diagnosis and other health challenges Rosalie remained resilient, steadfast in her faith, and a constant source of joy to those around her, never complaining and always greeting everyone with a smile.

No matter what Rosalie faced she was a constant inspiration to her family and friends. She taught her family it is never too late to try, about being kind to everyone, giving them the benefit of the doubt, moving forward no matter the circumstances, not complaining, and keeping a positive attitude with a sense of humor while being humble every day.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 28 at First Baptist Church, Bolivar. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM; service at 11:00 AM followed by a brief graveside service for the family.

Pallbearers: Gary Skaggs, Kevin Skaggs, Randy Skaggs, Harry Diesel, Marion Diesel, Gary Swan
