WEBSTER D. ANTHONY, came to Denver in 1860. Before that he lived in Leavenworth Kansas and was a clerk in the Deeds office. He was private secretary to the first Colorado Territorial Governor John Evans, first Speaker of the House of Representatives in Colorado, 1876-1877, and secretary of the convention which met to frame a constitution for the organization of the Colorado state government in 1865. He was Arapahoe County Clerk 1867-1875. Chief Clerk United States Mint Denver 1877-1884. He was also a veteran, Civil War and he was First Grand Master from Union Lodge No.7 and served two terms, 1873 and 1874. Grand Commander of the Knights Templar in Colorado 1877.
