Adam Joseph Allas, 89 years, 10 months, 7 days of Lansing, Minnesota, passed away of complications of Alzheimer's, March 31, 2011 at Faribault Care Center, Faribault, Minnesota.

His father, Andrew came to America through Ellis Island with the first 4 children to make a better life for his family, and for freedom in America. Adam was born in Topeka, KS, May 24, 1921, to Andrew Joseph & Elizabeth (Kuhn) Allas. Siblings include: Gertie Greenlee, Alexander (Hippo) Allas, Peter Allas, John Allas, John Kuhn, Evercina Pagenkoph, Florentina Frein, Rose Marie Allas, and Sylvester Allas. The family moved to Austin when Adam was a child.

Mr. Allas started to work for George A. Hormel Company when he was 17 years old. He proudly served for our freedoms of democracy, 3 years, in the United States Air Force. Upon returning after WWII, Adam continued to work for Hormel (43½ years) until his retirement April 30, 1982.

United in marriage to Marian E. Cerny, January 25, 1947, at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Austin, MN. To this blessed union were 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren:

Linda (Maynard) Huemann, Elgin, MN, Travis (Lana) Huemann, Dillon, Riley, Garett, Mason, Natalie, Troy (Lynn) Huemann, Mackenna, Devin, Vanessa (Jared) Sagdalen, Elliana, Seth, Valerie Huemann (friend, James Hart).

Loren (Cynthia) Allas, Austin, MN, Christina Moser, Kirsten Stehlik & Ethan Moser, Carmen May, Aubrey Mullenbach.

Luanne (Bill) Blowers, Waterville, MN, Lori (Brian) Mock, Lilian, Bobbi (Clinton) Peach, Miya, Jaden, Edward (Kathy) Blowers, Lucas.

Lynn (Kristine) Allas, Lansing, MN, Andrew Jacob Allas, and Emily Allas.

Weekends and vacations were spent with Marian and the family, at the cabin on Tetonka Lake. Adam delighted in cooking for family and friends, making enough for an "army". Working with his son, Lynn, he would help clean the shop, work with wood, and create his own projects. He took pleasure in playing Solitaire, shooting pictures, and landing & taking fish off. Adam loved children and being with people, he would carry suckers in his pocket to hand out to kids - big and small. Despite his memory he took great pleasure in being a jokester……. to the end. His favorite name to call others was "Yahootee".

Surviving are his wife, Marian Allas, Lansing, MN, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, sister, Florentina (Flossy) Frein, Rochester, MN., brother, Sylvester Allas, Austin, MN. Sister-in-laws, Gladys Allas, Austin, MN, and Dorothy Winn, Blooming Prairie, MN., many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Your loving smile, your gentle face, no one can fill your vacant place. Blessed be the memory of Adam Joseph Allas.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 4th, 2011 at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin.
