Thurman AZBELL, 79, of 1607 Wallace Ave., died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, shortly after being admittd at Woodlawn Hospital. He had been in failing health the past five years.

Mr. Azbell was born March 17, 1902 near Twelve Mile to Charles and Lily GRIEST AZBELL. He had lived in this county since 1943, moving from Tweve Mile. He was married August 1924 in Mexico to Lova E. SNYDER, who died Aprill 6, 1970. He was retired from farming and Louderback Chevrolet. He was a member of the Bethlehem Methodist Church near Twelve Mile.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William (Ruth) GREEN, Rochester, and Mrs. Janet BALLINGER, Rt. 4, Plymouth; four sons, Maurice [AZBELL], Rochester; Merrill [AZBELL], Wabash; Wendell [AZBELL], North Vernon, and Darle [AZBELL], Peru; nineteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Della APPLEGATEN and Mrs. John (Nellie) BEAN, both of Hoover; Mrs. Lehman (Pearl) WALLACE, Logansport; Mrs. Letta BERRYMAN, Peru, and Mrs. Christina ROUCH, Fulton; three brothers, Wright [AZBELL], Logansport; Clinton [AZBELL], Peru, and Henry [AZBELL], Tucson, Ariz. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold Dean Azbell, in France during World War II, a sister, and two brothers.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Foster & Good Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam CARLTON officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Mexico. Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday until the hour of service.
