Doris married Carroll Lewis Coon (who was born in Idaho) on September 15, 1928. The couple's vows were overseen by S. H. Yerian, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, 246 E 70th Street, presumably Los Angeles, CA. The marriage was performed in Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. George L. Harding of Santa Paula, California served as witnesses. It was a first marriage for Doris and Carroll. She lived at 421 S. Bixel Street, and he at 2119 Michigan Avenue, both in Los Angeles. Carroll is a driver for Swift & Co., which matches a later census noting him as a driver for a meat company. Doris works as a book keeper for Pacific Factors, Inc. Her parents are confirmed as George Wagenseller and Miriam Orwig, both born in PA, while his are Fred Lewis Coon and Delia Nellie Reinhardt, both born in Iowa, at least on the marriage documents.
Doris' father and stepmother are buried at Glendale's Forest Lawn.
At the same cemetery rests a man with a name very close to that of her husband, but it seems to be a different gent based on his middle initial and age, and other people share his plot, but not Doris. While this group of Coon people do not seem to be Doris' they have nonetheless been added to the site, in the hopes they can be confirmed or denied positively, and that they might be found by someone who knows them. Doris' place of rest has not yet been found.
On the 1930 (Santa Monica, CA) and 1940 (Los Angeles, CA) censuses, Doris' married last name is listed as "Coon", most likely correct. It is only her mother's obituary that lists her as "Coons". In neither census is she listed as having children, and the last available one, 1940, she is age 35. It's not yet known if she had any children.
