Mrs. Earl Smith Dies on Monday; Funeral Today.
Mrs. Earl Smith, 74, of rural DeWitt passed away at 5 p.m. Monday at the DeWitt Community Hospital after 10 months illness. The body reposes in the McGinnis Funeral home where funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 this afternoon (Thursday). Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Nellie Atkinson Smith was born March 19, 1886, near DeWitt. She was the daughter of Albert and Mary Howson Smith and was educated in the rural schools. On October 10, 1906 she and Earl D. Smith were married. The couple had resided on a farm southeast of town since that time. Mrs. Smith was a member of the DeWitt Methodist Church.
Surviving are the husband, three sons, Harvey, Roy and Albert all of DeWitt; three daughters, Mrs. John Greve, DeWitt, Mrs. Raymond Selinau, Delmar, and Mrs. Seigfreid Schnepel, Dunbar, WI; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, a daughter and a great grandchild.
