JAMES M. BALLIETT -- The funeral of Mr. James M. Balliett, who died Friday night from the effects of having swallowed a dose of corrosive sublimate by mistake on the evening of May 2, took place Sunday morning at 11 o'clock from his residence half a mile north of Lucas. The Rev. D.W. Mitterling conducted the services.

The deceased was 35 years of age and leaves a wife and four children in comfortable circumstances.

His sufferings were terrible during his illness. The poison was kept in the cupboard and was intended to destroy vermin. The deceased was well-known throughout the county and stood in high esteem. Mention of the fact of Mr. Balliett's having accidentally taken the poison was made in The Herald at the time.
