ODESSA Wilford "Sonny" Anderson, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Regency Hospital in Odessa.
He was born June 9, 1936, to W. W. and Inez (Clevenger) Anderson in Hammond, OK. He married his true love, Mary Lou Dempsey on June 23, 1959, in Odessa, and for the past several years he was a loyal member of the Sherwood Church of Christ.
He graduated from Odessa High School in 1956. He worked for Fox Thriftway in Crane for 18 years. He also worked for Tower Food Market and Everybody's, both in Odessa. He later retired from the City of Odessa Building Services Dept.
He loved to sing and he enjoyed the activities at the Senior Center. His friends called him "Sunshine Sonny". His grandson was the light of his life, and he loved to hear Trevor play his violin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, George Anderson. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Lou Anderson of Odessa; son, Scott Anderson and wife, Lisa, of Odessa; daughter, Barbara Anderson Rodriguez, and husband, Rick of Odessa; sisters, LaQuita Hicks and husband, Charles of Brownwood, TX, Ruth Graves of Odessa and Gail Eppler and husband, Jimmy of London, TX; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harlon and Janice Dempsey of San Angelo, TX; grandson, Trevor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family visitation is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Sherwood Church of Christ with Lynn Money officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery.
The family expresses special thanks to Dr. R. J. Patel and his staff and to Dr. M.C. Parekh and his staff, and all the people and nurses who cared for Sonny at Medical Center and Regency Hospitals.
