Enos was the son of John Ashby and Mary "Polly" Hardin. He married Tabitha Ashby, daughter of Stephen Ashby, Jr and Elizabeth Robertson, on 10 Mar 1824. They had nine children: Perrin, William Harrison, Marion, Lucius, Zera, Baxter, Orville, Johnson, and Malinda. He next married Eliza Groves on 14 Aug 1855. He lived in Hopkins County all his life and was a farmer.
