CAROLINE GUDMESTAD FINGERSON
Caroline O. Gudmestad Fingerson, 101, formerly of Litchville, died Tuesday morning, August 30, 1994 at the Glenwood (MN) Retirement Village.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, September 2, at Barsness Lutheran Church. A committal service will be held at First Lutheran Church, Litchville, at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3 with interment in the Bethlehem Cemetery near Litchville.
She was born December 30, 1892 in Starbuck, Minnesota to Charles and Julia (Haugen) Olson. She grew up on the homestead farm near Litchville.
She married Robert Gudmestad in 1916 and moved to Dilworth, MN. After his death in 1928, she lived with her parents near Glenwood, MN.
In 1938 she married Peder Fingerson and bought her family's farm. He died in 1964 and she moved to Glenwood. She has been a long time resident of the Glenwood Retirement Village.
She enjoyed her farm, quilting and was active in Barsness Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Fingerson is survived by a daughter, Georgina Henkel, Minneapolis, MN; three sons:
Harvey (Dorothy) Gudmestad, Granada Hills, CA; Robert (Dorothy) Gudmestad, Portland, OR and Gordon (Margaret) Gudmestad, Seattle, WA., fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters: Edna Squire, Twin Falls, ID and Henrietta Froemke, Moorhead, MN and brothers: Ray Olson, Alexandria, and Carol Olson, Glenwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and a son, Byron; two brothers, Oscar and Adolph; two infant brothers, Oliver and Henry and two sisters: Hilda and Alma.
The Hoplin Funeral Home in Glenwood is in charge of arrangements.
