DAVID DICKSON
Mr. David Dickson, 72, of Hillsboro died Thursday, July 11, at his
residence. He was born March 7, 1930 in Hill County, son of the late George
Frazier and Jennie Simmons Dickson, where he lived all of his life. He was a
graduate of Hillsboro High School. He worked for the post office as a rural
mail carrier for 40 years, owned and operated Centex Gun Shop for 45 years
and was an instructor of concealed handgun classes. He was a member of
Central Baptist Church of Hillsboro where he taught Sunday school, worked
with the R. A.'s and was a member of the building committee for the new
church. He also served as president of Woodrow-Osceola Water Board and was a
member of NRA. He married Helen Moore April 1, 1948. He was preceded in
death by two daughters, Donna Sue Dickson and Angela Diana Dickson; three
brothers; and one sister. Survivors include: his wife; two daughters,
Dolores Gongora of New Braunfels and Darlene Dumas and husband, Randy, of
Rio Vista; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral
services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, at Central Baptist Church
in Hillsboro with Rev. Paul Dickson and Dr. Brian Whitney officiating.
Burial was at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Memorials may be
made to American Cancer Society, 337 Carr, Hillsboro; or Central Baptist
Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 263, Hillsboro 76645.
