Archibald Nelson Jack was born to Allen Gillespie Jack and Elizabeth "Betsy" White McCallie. After his birth in Knoxville, the family traveled to Alabama and from Alabama to Texas (abt 1839).
Archibald is one of 14 children – 4 sisters, 9 brothers. He and 4 of his brothers joined the Confederate Army while one brother, James Hazlett Jack became a spy for the Union.
Archibald was engaged to marry a lady in Tyler, Texas at the time of his death.

3d SERG Jack is buried in the Camp Alcorn Confederate Cemetery section of Riverside Cemetery. He died during an outbreak of measles, typhoid and penumonia in the nearby Confederate camp near Hopkinsville.
