The sound of songbirds were heard outside her window at her moment of death. She was born to Barney and Alma Weaver on July 07, 1940. She was raised in rural Colfax and graduated from Colfax High School. She moved to the Twin Cities to work where she met and married Ralph Bradford, her husband of 48 years.
Together, they returned to reside in rural Colfax where Ruth Ann was a homemaker and raised her family. It was not until later in her life that she found her truest calling, the role of grandmother. Her ten grandchildren were blessed with her presence, all having spent hours upon hours in deep conversations with her. To them, her word was golden and she could fix or heal anything with her kind words, warm smile, and a hug.
Ruth Ann was a soft spoken, intelligent woman who had a private relationship with God. Her sense of family and its importance was unsurpassed. She spent much of her adult life fighting multiple cancers, degenerative bone disease, and various other health issues and inflictions. Her will for survival and strong mind defied her soft exterior image seen by most of the world. Ruth Ann loved nature, birds, and flowers, along with her children and family. She will be missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Alma (Gregerson) Weaver; and her two sisters, Lorraine Weaver and Betty Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Bradford of Colfax; and five children, Alan Bradford (Linda) of Colfax, Scott Bradford (Jill) of Colfax, Karen Hinrichs (Terry) of Plum City, Tim Bradford (Becky Kahler) of Colfax, and Kathy Erickson (Brad) of Boyceville. She is further survived by her beloved grandchildren, Brittany and Ashley Hinrichs, Becca, David, Nicole, Olivia, Dalton and Bailey Bradford, and Abigail and Braden Erickson. Furthermore, she left behind several friends and relatives.
The family of Ruth Ann Bradford would like to thank the staff of Colfax Area Nursing Home and all the medical professionals involved in her battle for their terrific care. They further extend their gratitude to the Colfax community, friends and acquaintances for their kind words and support.
Funeral services for Ruth will be Saturday at 11 a.m. from Hay River Lutheran church, rural Wheeler, with burial in Upper Popple Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Sampson Funeral Home in Colfax and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
