June 15, 1958 – Warner Pye dies at 64 years old
Warner Pye Sr., 64 a resident of 2704 W Fremont St for nine years, and a lifelong resident of this community, died at 3:05 A.M. Saturday at St. Francis hospital where he had been a patient since May 23.
Born at Bartonville October 7, 1893, he was a son of William and Sarah (Hill) Pye. He married Mary Wick at Bartonville August 9, 1916. She died in Peoria March 1, 1951.
A laborer foreman for various contractors the last 20 years. Pye was last employed by McCann Construction Company on the Murray Baker Bridge here. Earlier he had been a coal miner for 30 years, owning and operating the Coal Creek Coal Mine in East Peoria at one time. He was a member of the building laborers union, local 165, and of the united mine workers.
Surviving are three sons, Leslie Pye of East Peoria, Warner Pye Jr of Glasford, and Robert Pye of Waukegan: three daughters Mrs. Marie Wyss, and Mrs. Leona Helms both of Bartonville and Miss Mildred Pye, of the staff of the Schmidt Funeral Parlors in East Peoria. Two sisters Mrs. Bessie Smith of Hollywood, California, and his twin Mrs. Lavina Kaebel of Pekin; and one half brother, Ted Sanderson of Bartonville; 12 grand children and 1 great grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Tuesday at the Schmidt Funeral Parlors in East Peoria. Rev Carl Clabusch of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of East Peoria will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. Friends may call at the funeral parlors after 2:00 PM Monday.
