MRS. A. H. SCHNEIDER
Wife of Pioneer in This Community Passes Away—Resided Here 63 years
Mrs. Albert H. Schneider, wife of Oak Park’s oldest native son, passed away on Sunday.
Mrs. Schneider was born in Germany in 1865 and came to this country at the age of two. She has lived in this community for sixty-three years.
Mr. and Mrs. Schneider had been married forty-seven years in March of this year. Mr. Schneider was born in a house that stood on the present site of the Oak Park Trust and Savings ban.
During the sixty-nine years of his residence here, Mr. Schneider has never lived more than seven blocks away from his original birthplace. As a young man, he entered the floral business and has followed that pursuit for forty-three years at the corner of Harlem and Schneider. The street is named after his father.
Funeral services for Mrs. Schneider were conducted by Rev. O. E. Geisemann on Wednesday afternoon at Grace Lutheran church, Division and Bonnie Brae.
She was the mother of six children, Mrs. W. C. Traub, Mrs Leo Gielow, Mrs. A. Thoms, Mrs. M. O’Connor, all of Oak Park, Albert A. Schneider of Minneapolis, Minn., and Martha Schneider, who has passed away.
Other members of the immediate family who survive are two sisters, Mrs. Alfred Fairhead [Lena, #22697119] of Saugatuck, Mich., Mrs. Edward Gorder of Spokane, Wash., and four grandchildren.
