Paper: Anamosa Eureka (Anamosa, Iowa)
Page: 3
In Jackson Township, Jones County, Iowa, Aug. 8th, cholera infantum, Gertie May, daughter of J. W. and Mary M. Brickley, aged one year, eleven months and seven days. Funeral services by Eld. N. Potter.
We weep for thee, our Gertie,
Ah yes, so sadly weep.
Although our precious treasure
Has only fallen asleep
Her casket lies ‘neath fresh grown sod
But the soul, the life, the gem
Is happy with the angels
And loved to be with them
In peace may rest thy body
While thy grave we oft bedew,
And as the rolling years come round
We’ll know we are nearer you.
