June Burdett Ramsey Richardson was born on July 12, 1922 on the Prade Ranch near Leakey, Texas to Reynolds (Ray) Allen and June Burdett Ramsey, June was a life-long resident of Uvalde County until moving to Austin to be near family in 2008. She attended school in Uvalde while growing up and graduated from Uvalde High School in 1939, where she was a bass drummer in the first Uvalde High School marching band. Upon graduation from high school, June attended the San Antonio Beauty School. At the age of 22, she purchased Jean's Beauty Salon in Uvalde and operated that during World War II. One of her clients during that time was Joy Richardson, wife of Jack Richardson. During the war, Joy and Jack kept Tom, the young son of Jack's brother, H.T., who was serving in the Navy in the Pacific Theatre. In addition to being Joy's hairdresser, June was often Tom's babysitter. When H. T. returned home from the war, Joy introduced June to H.T. and the love story began. They were married June 9, 1946. June helped H.T. in his grocery and catering business during their marriage. Both were active civic leaders. H.T. served as Uvalde County Commissioner and June as Uvalde County District Clerk. She and her daughter, Sally, who served as District Clerk at Atascosa County, had the distinction of being the only mother-daughter District Clerks in Texas. June retired after 20 years of service as District Clerk. June was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Uvalde where she taught Sunday School and held many positions. She was active in school organizations and volunteering while her children were growing up. She always cared for others more than for herself. It was something she believed to be important and it exemplified the way she lived.
June was famous for her hospitality and in her home there was always room for one more. And, usually, there were many more! She was a fantastic cook and gracious hostess. Family was a priority in her life, though she welcomed any who came to her door. She loved all as they loved her, and she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
June was preceded in death by her husband, H.T., who passed away in 1983. She is survived by son, Tom Richardson and wife, Sharon, of Kerrville, TX; son, Walt Richardson and wife, Martha, of Austin, TX; and daughter, Sally Richardson Lynn, and husband, Walter (Wally) Lynn, of Dripping Springs, TX; eight granddaughters, Kathy Richardson Fierri and husband, Vince, of Pearland, Texas; Robin Richardson Siptak and husband, Jeff, of Nashville, TN; Melissa Starr Oehler and husband, Sam, of Georgetown, TX; Sarah Starr Sahs and husband, Will, of Dripping Springs, TX; Jenni Holder of Tulsa, OK; Amy Richardson Guest and husband, Kenneth, of Frisco, TX; Molly Burdette Richardson of St. Helena, CA; and Emily Richardson Owen and husband, Henry, of Charlotte, NC; and ten great-grandchildren, Thomas Lawler and wife, 2nd Lieutenant Kacie Lawler, of Denver, CO; Ashley Siptak of Nashville, TN; Abby Oehler of Georgetown, TX; Claire and Owen Sahs of Dripping Springs, TX; Tessa and Gwen Holder of Tulsa, OK; Carson and Collier Guest of Frisco, TX; and Jack Henry Owen of Charlotte, NC.
