Lydia Ann Alley was born in Jonesport, Maine to Joshua Edwin & Caroline Matilda (Clatingburgh) Alley. Lydia, age 15 first married George W Faulkingham, son of Charles Henry & Hannah W (Beal) Faulkingham, in Jonesport in 1873. Lydia and George had three children, Alberta Rose "Bertha" (m. Arthur Riley Alley), Jeremiah (m. Maud Alta Smith), Louisa H (m. 1st George Sherman Redding, 2nd George William Tracy). George Faulkingham died 1885 and Lydia, age 31, remarried to John Merrill Alley, II, 10 Mar 1890, in Jonesport. John was the son of Asa Beal & Olive P (Bryant) Alley. John was first married to Anna May Stover who died in 1889. John and Anna had four children, Charlotte M, William Jacob, Mary Etta, and Anny E Alley. Together Lydia and John had two sons, Josiah Edward and George Stewart Alley. John Alley died in 1914 and on 28 Dec 1928 Lydia, age 70, married Edgar Pennell of Whitneyville, Maine. Lydia Ann was the mother of 5 children and step-mother of four others. Because of the young ages of her step-children, Lydia raised all 9 children. RIP dear cousin.
