He was preceded in death by both parents and three older brothers, Roy, Coy and Dave, Jr., and one older sister, Nell Rippy Barnaby.
He was survived by his son, Richard Richeson, of Troy; daughers, Suzan Crouch and Sharon White, both of Oklahoma City; nieces, Shiolette Meier, of Oklahoma City, and Patsy Rippy Bond, of Sandy, Utah. He also had 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A.T. graduated from Shawnee High School in 1940 and was all around athlete, earning letters in football, track, swimming and diving. A.T. was a veteran of WWII and served proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1943-45.
After an honorable discharge he returned home to resume working in his family's dry cleaning business. In 1956, he became employed by Tom Brown Wholesale Optical Company in Oklahoma City. He retired in 1984 after 28 years in that profession.
His love of sports carried over into his adult life where he excelled in golf, bowling and senior olympics. At one time he played golf to a 3-handicap and had shot his age or better six different times. At the age of 83 he shot an 81 at his home course in Shawnee.
A memorial service will be held at the church at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 17, 2011, with Rev. Johnny Stephens officiating. The church is located at 401 N. Market in Shawnee; phone (405) 275-1255.
