Robert Bentham (24 Jan. 1780 — 10 Sept. 1843) was an Attorney-at-Law, and a Notary. He joined the South Carolina Society in 1811.” He was elected Treasurer of the St. Cecilia Society in 182516 and Secretary and Treasurer of the American Revolution Society in July, 1828.” In September, 1828, he was elected warden of the city from Ward 4.” He inherited Pew No. 88 in St. Michael’s Church, originally delivered to his grandfather, Robert Hardy, 15 December 1760.” He married in Stateburg, 7 December 1818, Frances Caroline Mayrant, daughter of William and Anne Richardson Mayrant. He is buried in St. Philip’s churchyard.”
