Charles Birdwell Taylor, 86, of Hillsboro, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Marshall & Marshall Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Paul Clark of Walnut St. Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 27,2011 at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Charles Birdwell was born in Brandon, Texas, to the late Charlie and Lela (Moff) Taylor. He grew up in Brandon and graduated from Bynum High School and thereafter moved to Hillsboro where he lived all of his adult life. On June 26, 1942, he married Beatrice Williams. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. He worked for Pure Milk for 25 years and following that worked until his retirement in 1986 with the City of Hillsboro. He was a member of the Walnut St. Baptist Church of Hillsboro.

Birdwell was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Marie Ellison, step-mother, Rose Hodge, step-brother, Dana Hodge, and half-brother, Jimmy Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Beady Taylor, of Hillsboro; sons, Gayle Taylor and wife, Gloria, of San Antonio and Kenneth Taylor and wife, Joyce, of Hubbard; grandchildren, Bryan Taylor and wife, Paige, Scott Taylor and wife, Kristi, Kristin Orsak and husband, Tim, and Ryan Taylor and wife, Christina; great-grandchildren, Garrett Taylor, Hayden Taylor, and Barrett Taylor; sister, Jeanette Marshall and husband, Howard, of Ft. Smith, Ark; other family members and many friends.
