Louis N. Peyton, 83, formerly of Bushnell St., Bradford, and Washington, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, in The Pavillion at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 18, 1922, in Bentleyville, a son of Clarence and Phoebe Huff Peyton.

Mr. Peyton served in the U.S. Army as a TEC5 in World War II and received a Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, American Theater Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal with two bronze stars.

In 1985, he retired from Universal Cyclops Steel Corp. in Titusville with 33 years of service.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen S. (Mark) Durbin of Burgettstown and Sarah M. "Sally" (Greg) Hergert of Naples, Fla.; two sons, David L. (Tracy) Peyton of Bradford and Ronald E. Lanik of Washington; two grandchildren, John Wayne Plants and Tanela N. Durbin; a great-grandchild, Demi John Plants; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, in Pigeon Creek Cemetery, Eighty Four, with the Rev. Dana M. Hiles, pastor of Eldersville United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Home, Bradford.
