Mr. Raymond A. Cardillo, 68, passed away with his loving family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, March 25, 2011 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare.

Ray was born in Utica, January 4, 1943, a son of the late Raymond and Mary (Mancuso) Cardillo. He was educated in local schools and attended T.R. Proctor High School. Ray served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. On November 7, 1970, he was joined in marriage to the former Mary A. Steppello. Ray and Mary have enjoyed over forty loving years together. Ray was a professional welder and had worked for various companies in the area and most recently at Utica Corp, retiring in 2002.

An accomplished bowler, Ray especially enjoyed bowling with his sons. He played in many leagues over the years at the Sunset, Vista and Pin-O-Rama bowling allies. He competed in numerous tournaments and won many championships over the years. He also enjoyed spending time at the casino.

A dedicated, loving and generous, husband, father and grandfather, Ray will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Mary; his daughter, Laurie Leaf; and his son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Michele DeCicco, all of New York Mills, his son Raymond A. IV and Lisa Cardillo of Whitesboro; grandchildren, Nicole DeCicco, Gary Scales III, Matthew DeCicco, Brittani DeCicco, Miranda Cardillo, Alexa Cardillo, and Lisa Cardillo Jr.; also his twin brother, Ronald Cardillo Sr. and his wife, Charlotte; his brother-in-law, Gene Insogna; and also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special cousin, Jimmy Albison; and a special aunt, Dolly Albison. He was predeceased by his sister, Joyce Insogna .

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. There are no calling hours. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass. The family would like to offer their deepest thanks to Dr. Razia, and the staff of the 6th floor of St. Luke's Hospital, especially Kelly and Alan, for their loving care of Ray during his illness.
